Food & Drink

Once you get past the salmiak and surströmming there’s plenty of delicious eating and drinking opportunities - we like the following places (all listed in our map).

  • Ritorno Restaurant & Konditori - one of our favourite traditional cafés. The cake is good and Dave is fond of the meatballs.
  • Café Saturnus - a bistro, bar, and café. A good place for breakfast.
  • The Golden Peace (Den Gyldene Freden) - a posher restaurant owned and frequented by the Nobel committee. Traditional Swedish cuisine.
  • Luzette - a good restaurant inside the main station (Centralen).
  • Nybergs Konditori - a café and cake shop.
  • Erlands - a tiny bar with occasional jazz bands crammed into the corner.
  • Thai House Wok - a cheap and cheerful Thai food restaurant near Mariatorget station (walkable from our wedding venue).
  • Judit & Bertil - a trendy restaurant and bar.
  • Bistro Barbro - a recommended bistro.
  • Därmedpasta - a cheap and cheerful pasta restaurant.
  • Restaurant Pelikan - a restaurant serving classic Swedish cuisine.
  • Materiet - a lunch restaurant.
  • Café Rival - a bar, bistro, and café. They do great coffee and good croque monsieur. Next door to a nice hotel and bar!
  • Häktet - a bar and restaurant with live Gypsy Swing music on Monday evenings.
  • Mister French - a restaurant and bar.
  • Tweed - a swanky cocktail bar; busy but you can ring ahead and book a chesterfield armchair!
  • Delikatessen - a bistro and bar.
  • Folkbaren - a tiny bar and restaurant (with excellent oysters) adjacent to a theatre where we often have a glass of prosecco.
  • Mosebacke Terrassen - an outdoor bar with a view.
  • Bellmanmuseet - a café next to a popular and sandy city beach.
  • Akkurat - a trendy-casual bar and restaurant.
  • Lasse i Parken - a cheap outside bar and restaurant with live music.
  • Tjoget - a bar with award winning cocktails.

Shopping

  • Old Touch - Hanna’s favourite vintage store (ladies and gents).
  • A Marchesan - a Gent’s vintage store (convenient for Erlands bar if you find shopping to be thirsty work). (Closed for refurbishment)
  • Myrorna (Sodermalm) - a second hand store that always seems to have a stock of nice old suitcases, radios, and other knickknacks.
  • Stadsmission (Odenplan) - a good sized second hand store with a good mix of items and some curated records.
  • Herr Judit - a Gent’s vintage store (convenient for our wedding venue and often open on Sudays if you’re on a flying visit).
  • Lisa Larsson Second Hand - a ladies vintage store.

Scenic viewpoint

  • Skinnarviksberget - a nice viewpoint often frequented by the locals.
